Amanda Austin, Owner and Artistic Director of Dallas Comedy House, has been selected as a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber's Leadership Dallas Class of 2018.
Founded in 1975, Leadership Dallas prepares a diverse group of leaders to serve as agents and sustainers of positive change for the quality of life in the Dallas region. The program serves as a catalytic opportunity for individuals who are both acknowledged and aspiring leaders to continue their professional development and further cultivate a demonstrated commitment to the serving the community.
"I'm thrilled to be selected as a member of the 2018 class. During our inaugural retreat last week, I was able to meet and interact with all of my fellow classmates," said Amanda. It's a group full of smart and driven professionals who are looking to make our region a better place. I'm excited to learn from all of them and I can't wait to see what we accomplish this year."
Each year, up to 55 individuals are selected to participate in a ten-month educational program that includes a two-day retreat, nine monthly day-long sessions, monthly preliminary assignments, and a class project. Participants receive in-depth exposure to the critical issues facing the community through lectures, discussion groups, on-site visits, simulations, and other leadership development activities. Issues to be addressed during the year include human services, government and politics, regionalism, health care, criminal justice, education, and arts and culture. The program enables participants to develop their leadership capacities, build strong relationships, and prepare themselves for the challenges of the years to come.
