The first time I defected, I tried the AM Crunchwrap with bacon. For those who are unfamiliar, the AM Crunchwrap is a burrito tortilla with eggs, bacon, and cheese piled in the center, then topped with a crunchy hash brown. The tortilla is then folded over the hash brown and grilled, creating a handheld breakfast. The AM Crunchwrap with bacon was missing something. I was unfulfilled and bewildered. The AM Crunchwrap with bacon is wonderful on paper. It should work. It has BACON for crying out loud. Days passed, and I could not solve the con-yum-drum.
Then one fateful morning, I found myself defecting a second time. I ordered the AM Crunchwrap thinking, “Oh well—it’s better than going hungry.” This time I asked for steak. (I am a big fan of the classic American steak-and-eggs breakfast.)
My first bite illuminated everything. A final puzzle piece clicked into place. You see, the AM Crunchwrap with steak comes with a creamy chipotle sauce drizzled between the egg pile and the hash brown. The bacon Crunchwrap was missing sauce! The sauce “group hugs” all of the other ingredients (steak, cheese, eggs, hash brown, and tortilla) creating a menu item that is more than the yum of its parts.
I went steak, and I never went back. I encourage you to defect and reflect.
