This workshop is great for educators interested in creating a fun and inclusive classroom culture. Participants will learn basic tenets of improvisational comedy and how to translate the skills to the classroom for effective teaching strategies. Practice building off ideas rather than shutting them down, meeting students where they are, and communicating in affirmative language. This is a fun, fast-paced, three-hour jump start as you plan for the school year ahead.

This workshop is applicable for teachers of all ages and subject.

About Maggie Rieth Austin
Hailing from Rochester, New York, Maggie Rieth Austin is a Texan by choice and a writer, director, actress, and educator by trade. A proud graduate of the Dallas Comedy House (DCH) Training Center, she now serves as the Director of Education for the theater, as well as an instructor and regular performer. Prior to joining the DCH team, Maggie taught eighth grade math as part of Teach For America – Dallas/Fort Worth (2009) and served as the Director, Corps Culture, Communications, and Systems at the TFA-DFW regional office. Combining her passion for education and comedy, she has developed curriculum for educators to incorporate the tenets of improv into their instruction and leadership.
